Memorial Service

In memory of the anzac soldiers that fort for our country, Tamiaki College held a memorial service. A memorial service is held to remember and to show gratitude for the brave soldier that fort for us in WW1 (World War 1). I received the opportunity to attend the Tamiaki College memorial service on behalf of Pt England School.

It began and the whole of Tameiki College was there. We all showed respect by being quiet and listening. We began with a pray to bless the day and thank the lord for all the protection he blessed us with. People began giving speeches. Some thanked the soldiers for their service and sacrifice. It was a respectful time.

The band played the Last post while the anzac and New Zealand flag was lowered. Everyone was silent for a 1 minute. Once the minute was over, the Maori and English Ode was spoken by two woman. We sang the national anthem with pride. We were all dismissed. I headed back to school.

In conclusion we all showed how grateful we were of the soldiers. I feel we a should all be glad that the soldiers volunteered to defend New Zealand.
